Choices

‘Pure and genuine religion is the sight of God the Father means caring for the orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you’ James 1:27

Are you one of those seeking Biblical based answers to why Christians shouldn’t go to the club? I believe you know the answer to this already but you are just looking for Scriptural proof. The truth is, it is what you feed that will grow in you. Nobody is a spiritual giant. The people that you think are spiritual giants deliberately control their environment. Your environment determines what grows in you. If you put a corn seed on the table for one year, when you come back it most likely will still be the corn seed. But if you put that same corn seed in fertile soil, it seizes to be just one seed but multiples to become many. Jesus likened our hearts to soil and guess what it is what you plant in that soil that will grow and bear fruit in your life. Also, the Bible says that by the fruits of our lives people can tell who really belongs to Christ. Every one of us can misbehave under the right pressure and environment, even the physicist will tell you that. So what we can control is our environment. ‘Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good your whole body is filled with light but when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!’ Matt.6:22-23. If you put yourself in an environment that brings out the old man then you are responsible for the result you get. So while you are sitting there perhaps taking a non-alcoholic drink while every one around you is taking alcohol,  you just might get tempted to mix it a little, after all a little wine for the belly. Some will say alcohol does not tempt them. What happens when a half naked girl walks up to you and  is unrelenting  in offering you ‘her services’? What do you do? Will you start quoting Scriptures to her? She will ask you what you are doing in the club and probably redirect you to church. Your environment determines what grows in you – whether it will be God or the devil. Again you become what you behold. Keep God consistently before you and you will be built up in the image of Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, I ask for the grace to die to self daily. To completely do away with the things that  please my flesh and walk tall in godliness, in Jesus Name.
