Draw Near!

‘Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened’ Matt.7:7-8.

Many Christians are consumed with the feeling that they are far from God and they cannot hear Him speak or feel His tangible presence. You want my advice; follow the path that God has carefully laid out in His Word. ‘Draw near unto God and He will draw near to you!’ What are you waiting for? You need to make the first move. The truth is that God has reconciled you and I to Himself so that we can have a relationship with Him. A relationship is between two people and it involves both parties speaking and getting to know each other. You cannot get to know Him or understand His voice from a distance. In my experience, I have realized that God wants to speak to us more than a lot of us are willing to sit and just listen to His voice. Again God is saying that if you find yourself in this situation, His promise to you is, ‘Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened’ Matt.7:7-8. Did God say some who ask will receive, or a selected few that knock shall have opened doors, or only Pastors will find? No, He said everyone! This particular passage in scripture relays different ways of seeking God but in every one of these cases there is the guarantee that you will find God. So if you find out that you are distant from God, guess who moved? You did! So if you desire to hear from God or you desire the tangible presence of God, then retrace your steps. Jesus went to Jerusalem with His parents and on their way back each parent assumed that He was with the other. Immediately they discovered this was not the case, they journeyed back in search for Jesus. Sometimes in our walk with God we embark on journeys just assuming Jesus is there. When you find out He is not there don’t continue and expect Him to catch up. Do what His parents did, retrace your steps because guess what, it is not about the journey, it is all about Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for reconciling me to Yourself. Today Lord, I retrace my steps and I journey toward You with the confidence that I will find You, in Jesus Name.
