The Straight And Narrow II
‘For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep my self innocent for no reason? In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors’ Ps.73:3, 13, & 19
A lot of people today are envious of the people who disregard God’s way because they seem to be doing all the wrong things and getting all the right results. How come the unbelievers have it good and the righteous seem to be walking up a very steep hill? Please read Psalm 73, this was the same question on the mind of the psalmist. A lot of students today have begun to wonder if there is really anything wrong with cheating in an exam. After all, those who cheat seem to be getting great scores and moving unto the next level effortlessly. Yet here you are working your brains out and trying to stay faithful to God. Sadly, a lot of parents seem to be encouraging their children to cheat in exams. What kind of future are you building for that child? Like the psalmist discovered, the end of people who tow such lines is usually horrible. They cannot end well except of course they repent and find God and He has mercy. You are not wasting your time. God will lift you up Himself. So don’t be discouraged. There are destructive and destiny altering effects in cheating.
Another subject that is weighing a lot of people down today is they fear they have committed the unpardonable sin and wonder if they are damned for life and eternity. Well I wouldn’t say that because the enemy, to torment a lot of people, has hijacked the concept of unpardonable sin. Personally in the earlier years of my walk with God, the fear of committing the unpardonable sin tormented me too. I will advise you not to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. If you make a mistake then honestly repent. The only time you will have an issue with God is when you deliberately blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. That is why when it comes to the Holy Spirit, what you don’t understand don’t criticize. Just keep quiet! I see people criticizing speaking in tongues. I know it has been abused. The enemy will abuse anything that is genuine and is of God. But that is not license enough. Go to God and ask for forgiveness and He will forgive you.
Prayer: ‘Have mercy on me, O God… Because of your great compassion blot out the stain of my sins. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me… Do not banish me from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me’ Ps.51:1, 3, & 11
