It Must Be Now
‘Thou shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea the set time, is come’ Ps.102:13 [KJV]
As believers we must know that with God there is a set time for everything. The Bible lets us understand that even before we were formed, God had a plan. ‘To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’ Ecc.3:1 [KJV]. The children of Israel had a season of response; the set time for them had come to enter into God’s Promised Land. But they hesitated and told God they were unable to enter the land because of the giants and the season of response passed. Although they came back a few hours later declaring their readiness, with God the time for that purpose under heaven had passed. And the next available time was in forty years. So they had to wait another forty years. With some of us God is saying now is the time press in. I am praying for you that you will not miss your response time in Jesus Name. Think about it, the Jews had to wait another forty years. Some of us don’t have forty years to wait so our obedience must be now.
The fourth reason why we grieve, and this is unnecessary really, is when there is something in our lives that we want more than we want Jesus. We only settle for Jesus when things are rosy; at the slightest challenge we jump ship because we are flaky. ‘For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it’ Matt.16:25. There was some guy I was trying to reach for Jesus and inspite of his refusal I kept following him up. He could not understand why, after all, his girlfriend was a Christian and she had repeatedly slept with him even though she would cry afterwards. I understood why she was crying; it was the seed of God in her. One-day God broke this guy and he accepted Jesus and made a complete turn around in his life, which meant cutting off the girl too. Take note of this, anything that you abandon Jesus for will abandon you for Jesus. ‘Keep yourselves from idols’ 1 John 5:21 [KJV]. What is that thing that you are ready to turn your back on Jesus for? It will cause you grief and sorrow eventually and it is unnecessary.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the seasons You have brought me through, thank You for Your faithfulness even in the current seasons of my life, above all thank You for where You are taking me to, in Jesus Name.
