Let God Lead You

‘Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man
and makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the Lord.’ Jer.17:5

The fifth thing that causes us grief, which is also unnecessary, is when we trust in man rather than in God. ‘Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabitedJer.17:5-6. In other words, the person will be looking in one direction-unto man and good will be coming from the opposite direction-from God. Who are you trusting in really? Have you made your salary your security or do you still depend on God even though you know that there is money coming at the end of the month? Who do you actually look to first when you have a need – man, your wallet, or God Almighty?

The sixth reason why we grieve is that someone we love is grieving. The Bible says that we should mourn with those that are mourning. This is why in God’s Favourite House we focus intensely on ensuring that every member is planted in a Life Group. Although there is general pastoral care available,  we have set life groups in various regions to ensure that every member gets focused pastoral care and has a closer knit family within the church. Life groups are a guaranteed way to get focused care. As such you are guaranteed in the middle of your grief that there will be people to pray with you and be there for you. However, when you are not part of any life group, though people will still extend love to you, it cannot be the same. How many people’s houses can the lead Pastor of a church visit? Go and join a life group and receive focused pastoral care. It is easier for a life group leader to identify and bring people that need help to Pastors directly. So refusing to be part of the life group is actually a decision to cut yourself off from so many benefits. All of us want someone to be beside us when we are going through trying times, I do and I am sure you do too. Leverage on the systems that God puts around you for support and comfort.

Prayer: Father, I declare that You alone are my source and my support system. Help me leverage the systems You have put in place for my benefit, in Jesus Name.
