Hunger Equals Filling

‘As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Ps.42:1-2 [NIV]

Everyone is longing for something. Some people are just longing to be recognized. But except you enter God’s presence with the longing for God you will not be filled. Perhaps you have entered His presence with the wrong longing but in the process of praise and worship God helps you to substitute that longing with the longing for Him, that is the only time you can be filled. David puts it this way ‘as the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before himPs.42:1-2. That is a longing for God and everybody that seeks God finds God. Whenever God affords me the opportunity, I say to people who claim to be atheists or of other faiths that there is need to argue. Go to your room, shut the door, and challenge God that if He is real, He should reveal Himself to you and lets talk after that. When I see them the next day and ask them if they did it, most times they can’t because of the fear of the fact that He might just show up. Everybody that seeks God finds God. David exclaimed ‘O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no waterPs.63:1. David is not talking about physical water. You can understand if he says my spirit longs for you because the spirits naturally long for God. You can also understand if he has brought his soul under subjection then his soul will long for God. Most of us will agree that the flesh  makes it difficult to long for God? You sleep, the Holy Spirit thugs you to wake up and pray. Your spirit says yes, your mind says it is a good idea, but your body says go back to sleep. You set your alarm because at midnight you want to get up and seek God. The alarm goes off, your spirit is excited, your mind says its time to get up, your hand dismisses the alarm, and your body says sleep. But David got to a point where his spirit, soul, and body were hungry for God. And hunger is so crucial. There is a natural thirst and longing in man that exists already but you need to generate a hunger for God.

Prayer: Father, fill me with holy thirst and hunger for You daily. Work in me Lord till my spirit, soul, and body pants after You, in Jesus Name.
