God’s Dealings

‘Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna… He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord’ Deut.8:3.

The second way we get hungry and thirsty for God is through God’s dealings. God deals with us to create a hunger in us for Him and through that hunger we can know Him. ‘He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord’. God sometimes takes us through difficult periods for us to realize our hunger for what He has to say. Yet some of us are not sensitive enough and because of that when God begins to deal with us we don’t discern what God is saying on time. For me, I am very sensitive; I look for God even in the simplest things. I check to see if God is trying to teach me something through situations. Let me give you an example, I love to play computer games and I am in this online community of all the best guys in the world. There are ten divisions and ten is the lowest and one the highest. If you can get to division five you are a solid player. I got to division three and my goal was to get to division one. My wife loves movies so I picked an interest so that we can bond on that level. There are seasons in my walk with God that I feel Him say to me no movies but sometimes He is silent on the games. So I play games time and again. One particular day I was trying to get to division two, I had won all my matches when I felt God saying this thing is getting too much shouldn’t you go and pray? Wait Lord – division two! My next four to five matches were straight losses and I was relegated to division four. Let me just get back to division three and then I’ll go and pray. I won the final match to get me to division three, I was about to celebrate when the Internet went off and I lost the match. The Internet came back on again and I was in division four. I realized that with the way I was going I would find myself in division ten. So I quit the game and I went to God. Many of us don’t discern God’s dealings early enough until we are in division ten. I don’t need to go that far. You don’t need to go that far either. What is God saying to you through His dealing with you? Ask for the grace to discern it.

Prayer: Father Lord, I ask for the grace to discern the lessons You are teaching me through Your dealings with me and deepen my affection for You, in Jesus Name.
