Are You Offended?

My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your majesty’ Dan.6:22

For some of us the very thing that is off setting our vertical peace is an offence in our hearts. You are offended at God and you are fighting with God because by your own estimation God should have done better. For example, a lady said ‘God if I were you, I would have sorted out this problem. What is all this delay? God if it were You asking me to do this, I would have done it for You. If You were the one begging me, I would have answered you’. God likes those kinds of people. My question to her was are you saying that you are more merciful than the Most Merciful? Many times we get offended at God. I used to have a friend that  I have not seen  in years. We used to be roommates when I was in the university. When I was not saved, we were partners in doing the things unsaved people do. But I got saved in God’s mercy and God delivered me from so many things. Of course when you really get saved the first thing you want to do is share it. If you get saved and you are not too joyful to share your salvation then something is wrong with that salvation. So I was trying to get him to give his life to Jesus and he said to me that I should just leave God out of it because if there is someone he can say is a genuine Christian it was his Mother. He said that he saw her serve God and he was beside her deathbed and watched his mother dying. And he said to God “You know that I am a bad boy but this woman is a good person. Heal her and I will serve you” and yet God took her. So he has made up his mind not to serve God. He was offended at God. However, years later I bumped into him and he was saved and serving God passionately. The key thing here is many of us are struggling with God because God let us down. Let me tell you something, regardless of what has happened to you all things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to his purpose. Many times people think when a believer dies it is a loss. Yes you will miss the person but they have gone to be in a better place whether you know it or not.

Prayer: Father, I pray for myself and the people in my community, open our eyes to see that You are working out all things for our good and rid our hearts of offence, in Jesus Name.
