Not As Cain

You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be it’s master’ Gen.4:7.

A lot of Christians have this question on their minds today; when people hurt me, how does God expect me to respond? Am I to take them in again and let the hurt happen again? Can I ever be vulnerable around such people again knowing what happened the first time? How can I ever trust him/her again? Some people refuse to go into a house fellowship, because they had been into a house fellowship before and had a bad experience. But guess what? If you walk into the right house fellowship, you’ll have the best experience of your life. So pray that God will lead you, and He will. Yet how does God really expect us to respond when we encounter the ‘challenges’ of relationships? When you encounter challenges in your relationship with your spouse, how does God really expect you to respond? The Bible says, ‘not as Cain’! Do not respond like Cain. What happened to Cain? How did he get into the state he got into? Why did he get into the state he got into? God does not expect you to deal with the challenging relationships you inevitably find yourself in, the way Cain did. God does not want you to respond as Cain. God is saying to you, that you will have challenges in life, there will be an “Abel” that will surpass you in beauty, in intellect, in wealth, do not respond like Cain. There may be a Judas that betrays you; God is saying do not respond as Cain. Or there may be a Peter that is denying you, God says “not as Cain”.

How does God expect me to respond? God wants you to do what is right. God expects you to deal with your negative emotions, subdue them and move on. God expects you to mature, to confront the matter [don’t ignore it] and learn from it. You cannot conquer what you are unwilling to confront. Confront it by overcoming [conquer] ‘evil by doing good’ Romans 12:21. For example, if you are in a marriage relationship and your spouse is very proud, you cannot conquer pride with pride, you can only conquer pride with humility. You can only overcome evil with good.

Love is the embodiment of everything good. Respond in Love.

Prayer: Father, help me not to respond to the challenges in my relationships the way Cain did but to conquer every negativity with good, in Jesus Name.
