Are You Ready?

And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together”’ Matt.19:5-6.

We are praying that every single male/female in God’s Favourite House and every single male/female reading this devotional today that desires to get married, will get married in the Name of Jesus. It is our prayer, we are seeing it happen and we will see it happen. By God’s grace a time will come when we will be conducting twenty weddings at once. But you need to be ready for marriage. I have had the privilege of serving sorrowful single people who are trusting God for a life partner. I bear their burden and pray with them. And I have had the privilege of serving totally unhappy married people. Some have been married for twenty years while some have been married for just two years. And I can tell you that the pain of the unhappy married person is at least five times the pain of the unhappy single person. I was speaking to a lady who had come to us for marital counseling and I asked her what advice she would give to a single lady that feels incomplete without marriage. And she said that I should please direct them to her so she can advice them. I prevailed on her to please write down the advice in one paragraph. I walked away and by the time I got back to the office, she had written down four pages full. But you will get it right in the Name of Jesus. So ask yourself again, regardless of whether you are single or married, ‘are you ready [to get married]?

Please read Matthew 19:3-12. Jesus was saying that Moses may have granted grounds for divorce but I, Jesus, am saying to you ‘whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery—unless his wife has been unfaithful’. So Jesus was saying that if there is going to be divorce at all it is on the grounds of unfaithfulness. Jesus’ disciples then said to him, “If this is the case, it is better not to marry!” Matt.19:10. I think singles should see the real implications of being married before they dabble into it. You will see it and you will still get married to the right person. But if you do not see it, you are heading for trouble.

Prayer: Father, while You are working on my promise of marriage, work on me for that promise. And when I get married, bring Your work to perfection, in Jesus Name.
