For Your Good II

‘But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband’ 1 Cor.7:2[NIV]

Songs of Solomon is a very graphic book when it comes to sexual relationships between a man and a woman. You cannot be holier than God. God says something is holy then it is holy. God says sex in marriage is honorable and the bed is undefiled. Then it is honorable. So why do you feel guilty anytime you make love with your spouse? Something is wrong somewhere. There was a lady that we had to do some form of deliverance for because every time she is with her husband in bed she says she just wants to push him away. Thankfully, Jesus set them free.

Sex is a gift from God that should be opened in a marriage. God has given you that gift of your sexuality but it should be opened only in marriage. Too often we are tempted to see God as a depriver rather than a giver. And that is the lie satan sold to Eve. He told her that God was trying to deprive her of certain things, rather than seeing that God was actually giving them life in its fullness. God gave sex. God said to man ‘be fruitful and multiply’. In other words get busy. Dr. James Garlow says, “Sex was God’s idea…” and I agree with that totally. The gift of your sexuality is to be given to your spouse in marriage and to yourself for your emotional peace, spiritual calmness, and physical health. A lady once came to us with her fiancé. She reminded us of a word of knowledge that came during one of our services. God was saying, “there is a lady here, a man has been treating you well and wants to marry you. You are about to sleep with him, don’t do it”. She knew God was speaking to her but she left the service and she did the exact opposite. Apparently the man had HIV and months later she tested positive also. They wanted me to pray that God will take the HIV away from both of them. I agreed to pray because with God there is mercy but it is left to God to take it away. When God says keep yourself, it is for your own good. Have you not noticed, for the singles that have been sexually active, that after you sinned God is still God? It does not make Him richer or poorer. It does not diminish anything in Him –nothing. It is for your own good. Do yourself a favour and obey.

Prayer: Thank You Father for the gift of my sexuality. Father I ask for the grace to honor You with my body daily, in Jesus Name.
