The Condition
‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36 [KJV]
The sixth truth is money actually grows on trees. The problem with a lot of us is that we are too lazy to go and pluck it. Secondly, we are too lazy to plant the seed, nurture it, and watch it grow into a tree. Then it starts to bear fruits of money and we begin to pluck it. Money grows on trees but a lot of us are not willing to farm. A lot of us want to be hunters – ‘small work, plenty money’ [Yoruba proverb translated]. I have heard entrepreneurs lament that a lot of the graduates and even some with masters degrees are totally unemployable. But you go ahead and employ him because he has the potential to learn and grow. And he wants to earn half a million by year one. What are you delivering? And he will claim to be serving a God of miracles. Do you know how long it takes a tree to grow? Are you willing to tend the tree? Money grows on trees but a lot of us don’t want to plant seeds. ‘Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find’ Prov.12:27.
The seventh truth about money is money does not guarantee heaven. ‘And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?’ Mark 8:36. God is saying if you gain the whole world and you lose your soul, it profits you nothing. What does it profit you to live like a king here for a hundred years and to burn in hell for eternity? For some people they feel like they are not even getting enough of this money thing. If you calculate where they are on the rich list, they are close to the bottom. Assuming you never even really get rich here on earth. Why do you want to suffer here and suffer in eternity? Does that make sense? Why won’t you be like Lazarus that has a lot of common sense to say that even if he was going to suffer on earth but he was going enjoy in eternity. What determines eternity is not money. What determines eternity is the person of Jesus. Who you are to Him? Can Jesus say this is mine or will Jesus say this belongs to money? What will Jesus say about you and I?
Prayer: Father, teach me to approach every task as unto You, in Jesus Name.
