A Vulnerable Heart

‘I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night’ Ps.63:6

Everything starts with an idea. Many times when God wants to give us a vision for our lives, He starts by giving us a mental picture –an idea. Some of us get most of our ideas in the bathroom. Have you experienced getting songs in the bathroom? Have you ever wondered why? The reason is that when a lot of people come to church, even though people hear from God in church also, they are full of themselves. They seem like they are worshipping God but what they are actually doing is modeling their wristwatch or their clothes. Something is wrong with that. Their minds are focused on whether people can see their bag, or do they know how expensive this suit is, or do they fancy this shoe? Those things insulate you from the voice of God. But when you are in the bathroom, you are as you came from heaven, bare before God. Job said ‘naked came you’ [Job1:21]. You are most vulnerable in the bathroom and that’s why many times it is as if that’s where God speaks clearest. Now imagine if you are vulnerable to God consistently – in your car, in church, in the office, everywhere. Imagine how clearly and how often you will hear from God. I am not saying you should go around naked. I am saying be vulnerable in your heart to God consistently.

Yes, you have a God given idea but not every idea or dream qualifies to be a vision. Not everything that could be should be. Not every dream is a vision worthy of pursing. Don’t waste your life. A lot of people have started businesses they have no business starting. It is just a major distraction for their lives. What happened was they saw the dream was big and fanciful and they pursued it. Some people have wasted ten – fifteen years of their lives just chasing shadows. I pray that you will not chase shadows, in Jesus Name. Permit me to illustrate with the female monthly menstrual cycle. Every cycle is a picture of what could be, a potential child, that’s all. Imagine a woman that says every cycle that could be, should be, and would be. She isn’t going to waste anything from heaven. She probably will pass out at some point. Not every dream is a vision worthy of pursuing.

Prayer: Father, I pray that my life will not be wasted on chasing shadows but invested in worthy visions, in Jesus Names.
