Consistent Victory

‘Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah’ 1Sam.23:2 [KJV]

Let us chronicle the battles of David and I am praying that this births in you the fire to claim your victory consistently. Remember we are under a better covenant and we are fighting from the place of victory. David fought goliath [1Sam.17]; David fought Saul [1Sam.18-20]; David fought the philistines [1Sam.23:1-5]; David fought the Geshurite, the Girzites, and the Amalekites [1Sam.27]; David fought the Amalekites [1Sam.30]; David fought the Benjamite civil war [2Sam.2,3 &4]; David fought the Jebusites the original inhabitants of Jerusalem [2Sam.5:6-10]; David fought the philistines [2Sam.5:17-20]; David fought the philistines again part 4 [2Sam.5:22-25]; David fought the ammonites [2Sam.10]; David fought the ammonites part 2 [2Sam.11-12]; David fought Absalom [2Sam.13:18]; David fought Sheba [2Sam.20]; David fought the philistines again part 5 [2Sam.21:15-17]; David fought the philistines [2Sam.21:18]; David fought the philistines again part7 [2Sam.22:19]; and David fought the philistines again part 8 [2Sam.22:20-22]. Every one of these battles were victories recorded in favour of David. I pray that from today it will be written of you that you fought battles and you won every time.

There is a battle that David could have lost [Please read 1 Chronicles 21]. This battle could have been a disaster for David. The story is told how David woke up one day and said he wanted to number the children of Israel out of pride. Joab begged him but David didn’t listen. He numbered Israel out of pride and God was upset and told David’s personal seer Gad to tell David that he has offended Him. And David repented saying “I am sorry, I have done wrong before God”. God said, you have repented and you are forgiven but I am going to flog you. Choose one of three things: three years of famine, three months of destruction by the sword of your enemies, or three days in My hands. If it were you, what will you choose? A man can flog you for thirty years but God can flog you for one day and it will be more than the thirty years. So which one will you choose? David said, “I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great. Do not let me fall into human hands.” 1Chr.21:13. His mercies endure forever.

Thought: What is before you today? Cry out for mercy!

Prayer: Jesus, thou Son of David – have mercy on me. Have mercy on me O God because of Your unfailing love, in Jesus Name.
