As A Father
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13 [NIV].
Secondly, Jesus wants us to approach God as a father. ‘…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” God is saying not only will I answer but we can be sure of the quality of His answer. As a parent, will you give your child a snake instead of the fish he asked you for? It will not even cross your mind. If it does then you need deliverance. That goliath must fall in Jesus Name. God is saying to you and I, “Give Me some credit. If you know how to give good gifts, how come you don’t trust Me?” Some of us cannot even trust God enough to ask His will for marriage. Some people think if they leave everything in God’s hands, He can give them a missionary and they don’t want that. Know this, if God gives you a missionary, a missionary will do you good. He will take care of you better than a banker would, believe me. When I wanted to get married, before I even prayed about marriage, the first question I asked God was, “Should I get married?” and I was ready for whatever His answer would be. If He had said, “don’t get married”, I would not get married. Singles, can you ask God if you should get married? If you see God as a father, you should be able to. Ask the people that are married today; they will tell you that you are better off asking the Lord. Am I saying that not everybody will get married? Yes. Do not let anybody deceive you; the truth is that not everybody will get married. Is that a hard thing to say, of course! As a Pastor, I can either tell you what you want to hear or I can tell you the truth. Which would you prefer?
When Jesus comes, there will be people that are still trusting God for future partners. When Jesus comes, there will still be people that will be trusting Him for the fruit of the womb. When Jesus comes, there will still be people that are trusting Him for financial breakthrough. Have you started questioning why you picked up today’s devotional because of how hard this is to take in? Guess what, my prayer and hearts desire for those that are of marriageable age and want to get married, is that they will get married. In fact, I am fasting for you.
Prayer: Father, strengthen my knowledge of You as my Father, in Jesus Name.
