God Is I AM!
‘Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me’ Ps.23:4.
The only key to the storms of our lives is securing the Presence of God. To still the storms you are faced with, you have so secure His Presence. In spite of the storm, His presence guarantees safety and deliverance. Safety, they say, is not in the absence of danger; safety is in the Presence of the Lord. Once you can secure His Presence, you will triumph over the storms of life. When you secure God’s presence in the storm, the first storm that God stills is your internal storm. For many of us, the first storm that God needs to still in our lives is the internal storm that we are experiencing. The storm of fear, anxiety, worry, and depression. Jesus needs to speak to that storm first before dealing with the storm without. The reason is that if God can deal with the storm within, the storm without will be inconsequential. Similarly, if the enemy can sustain the storm within, he can kill you even without the external storm. That is why it is paramount to God that He deals with the storm within – the doubt and uncertainty that is shattering our faith. God wants to still your storms.
‘The Lord is my light and my salvation – so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident’ Ps.27:1-3. David knew that because the Lord is his light and salvation, his internal storms are sorted out. So his heart remains unafraid even though the enemy comes against him. God wants to quiet your internal rumblings. And as He does that He will also deal with the external storms. ‘He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world”’ Ps.46:9-10. God will cause every war going on in your life to come to an end. Be still – first internal tranquility; and know – and experience the external tranquility. God wants to still both your internal and external storms. God is your fortress. God is your shield. God is your buckler. You do not need to be afraid. In spite of what you see, do not be afraid.
Prayer [hymn]: Be still and know that I am God (3x). I am the Lord that healeth thee (3x). In Thee, O Lord, I put my trust (3x). Amen
