He Answers

“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him” John 9:3.

Jesus is The Answer and as The Answer, He was asked a whole lot of questions. I did a little bit of research and I discovered that Jesus was asked about a hundred and ten documented questions. That’s a lot in three years. Thirty-seven out of the one hundred and ten questions were asked by Jesus Himself. Jesus would ask a question and He would answer it Himself. Seventy-three of them were asked by other people. There are a lot more of course because some of those questions are like three questions in one. But, interestingly, there were five questions that Jesus did not answer. There were times they would ask Jesus a question and He would not answer the question. So I say to myself, if Jesus did not answer every question, what makes you think you must answer every question? If Jesus did not answer every question, why do you think you must answer every question? Why do you think you must reply every e-mail, reply every tweet, or every text message? Jesus did not answer every question and neither should you. For some of us this needs to really sink in. Jesus didn’t answer every question. Yet for the number of questions He answered, Jesus really tried considering that some people insist on asking dumb questions. Have you met any of such people?

“As Jesus was walking along, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. “Rabbi,” his disciples asked Him, “Why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him” John 9:1-3. I read this and I thought, that is such a daft question. How can the man sin? He was born blind. So when did he sin? In the womb, he was stealing the meat his mother swallowed? If he were a twin maybe we would have said he was punching his twin in the womb. He wasn’t a twin, he was alone; he did nothing. Was he lying? Who was he lying to? Perhaps he pretended as if it was his due date, he lied to the mother, and she ran to the hospital but he wasn’t ready to come out. That is just a typical daft question that if you ask me, I probably will not answer but Jesus did. Jesus said neither the man nor the parents sinned, this happened so that the Name of God can be glorified! So what are those questions you have been asking God and people are telling you that they are daft questions? Keep on asking, man may think them dumb but Jesus will answer you. In His mercy, Jesus will answer your questions and comfort you.

Prayer: In this life of questions, Jesus You are my Answer and my Comfort and I am deeply grateful for that, in Jesus Name.
