Huge Difference
“What are mere mortals that you should think about them. human beings that you should care for them?” Ps. 8:4
Many people are around you today because they need you and not because they like you or want you. They are just there because they need you to do ‘xyz’ or give them ‘abc’ and that’s all. They need you to give them money, or connect them to someone. When they don’t need you anymore, what happens? In my few years of Pastoral experience, I can tell you that people can use you like rainwater. Have you heard that expression before? When they need you, they will be nice to you and you will think they actually like you. But wait until they don’t need you anymore then you will know that they don’t even give a damn whether you live or die; they don’t care. One of the greatest deliverance you can get is to know who actually likes you and who doesn’t. God can reveal them to you and I pray that He does because many people are around you because they need you, not because they like you. So I say to singles, you are thinking of dating this man, or you are hanging out with him, or you are hoping that he will marry you. Do you really like him? The usual response I get is, I love him. Yes you do but do you really like him? Then comes the, ‘O, he still smokes and I cannot stand the odor but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. Do you really like him?
If you are married, you have to like your spouse. If you don’t like your spouse, then receive the grace to like your spouse, in Jesus Name [say amen]. Even if you are not married, receive the grace to like your spouse. I like my wife, I just like her, and she is so adorable. I just like to hang out around her. I can’t help it. Sometimes, I may pretend I don’t but I know I do, deep down I do. The key thing is this; there are many people that are living together and they don’t like themselves. So what do you do? I am praying today that the wall of separation between you will collapse and you will actually begin to like yourselves. It is so, so, so important. People are around you because they need you not because they want you. Sometimes even among married people, one person is hanging on just because he or she needs you, not because he or she wants you. I am praying that if you find it difficult to like your spouse, God will give you the grace to like them, in Jesus Name.
Whereas, though God doesn’t need us, God still likes us. Isn’t that just amazing? I know God likes me and I say to myself, why does He like me?
Prayer: Father, You do not need me, yet You like me and are so mindful of me. I am grateful for Your love and the fact that You like me, in Jesus Name.
