Key To Identity I

“We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future when your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across…’ Josh.4:6-7

The altar is a place of Memorial. Altars help us remember what we should never forget and forget what we should never remember. The altar is the key to identity. An example of an altar would be thanking God in the morning. So you have set up this altar that your generations will give God thanks in the morning. And so you do this with your children daily and the Bible says when your children ask why you do what you do the way you do it, why do we always thank God in the mornings? Then you are able to tell them about God and your journey with God, and a lasting impression is formed in their minds. So I wake up in the morning and lie flat on my face and bless God. I know some people will say, where is it written in the Bible that we have to lie flat on our faces? It is not written but as for me and my household we will lie flat on our faces before the Lord of all the earth. And when our children ask, we would say, it is because God delivered us from the shackles of hell. It is because your father was a nobody but God anointed him and put His favor upon his generations. This is why we do what we do, so you must never forget.

When you build an altar, it ensures that you remember the things that you should never forget. The problem with many of us is that we forget the things that we should never forget and remember the things that we should forget. God says, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth…Isa.43:18-19 [NKJV]. God is saying, this is what I want you to see and remember; and that is what the altar does for us. The key to identity. So when your children are growing up, they know and align with all the ‘in this house…’. When I was growing up, they told us many ‘in this house…’. In other words, in case you are visiting your friends’ where things are done differently but ‘in this house…’. An example of an ‘in this house’ would be, in this house we do not go late to church. So the issues of identity are sorted out and they know who they are. And when you are who God has made you to be, you will not be in competition with anybody. The reason why people are in competition everywhere is because they do not know who they are. It is a sign that you have an identity crisis, so you need to outdo the other person to feel fulfilled. But if you know who God has made you to be, all that vanishes. I’m praying that concerning you, people will say, that lady/ gentlemen is in a class of his or her own.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that as I service my altars daily, that my identity will be strengthened in You, in Jesus Name.
