Companionship

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? Amos 3:3” (NKJV)

As your Pastor, I can pray that God will give you a miracle and when that happens, it is a good gift. But that is not the best gift I can give to you. The best gift I can give to you is to ensure that your connection with God is intact; that you have a clear-cut intact connection with God. The best thing that can happen to you is for your connection to God to be intact. And since connection is so important, I will start by explaining the ‘three C’s’ of connection. The first C of connection is The Cross: The cross is our starting point with God. You have to experience the cross of Jesus, the cross of Calvary. It is at the feet of Jesus that our lives become changed. It is at the feet of the cross that we encounter Christ. The second C of connection is Communion: Our communion with God- that is what building your altar is about. And the third C of connection is Companionship. Let’s say you pray on your personal altar and you experience God. But when you leave there and cannot cultivate and live with the Presence of God, then there is a problem. If you go to church on Sunday and experience God but for the remaining days of the week [Monday to Saturday] your life is devoid of the tangible Presence of God, then there is a problem. God wants to walk with you. God wants to be in companionship with you. And this is the key to triumphant living as a believer. For the next few days, we will be focusing on Divine Companionship.

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? Amos 3:3” (NKJV). This scripture is actually a question; but in this question, we can immediately see the key to companionship. The key to companionship is agreement. The fact that two people are in agreement will empower them to sustain their companionship. There can be no companionship without agreement. The reason the divorce rates are so high is simple; people cannot walk together because they don’t agree. They obviously had communion at some point because in a lot of those cases they have children. But even though some intermingling and communion happened, they couldn’t sustain their companionship. Why? because there is disagreement. And if there is no agreement, then there is a problem. We will highlight three causes of disagreement. The first one is failure to meet. “Do two people start travelling together without arranging to meet?Amos 3:3 [GNT]. Meeting and deciding to go together is a key factor.

Prayer: Father, I confess that You are my best gift ever and I commit afresh today to keep company with You, in Jesus Name.
