Your Heart

“Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!” Deut.6:5 [MSG].

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship himRom.12:1. We established that God is interested in our bodies. And as we bring our bodies, God also wants our time, God wants your time, God also wants your substance. Yes, God wants your money. And I will tell you why God wants your money. God is not really after your money; He is after your heart. He knows that if He can get your money, He can get your heart because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. So if God is not Lord over your money, don’t deceive yourself that He is Lord over your life, because He is not. If God cannot request for your money and you surrender it, He is not the Lord over your life. God is asking you to give ‘x’ amount but you are negotiating with God for fifty-fifty. Then you are the lord of fifty and He is the Lord of fifty, right? The only reason why God is asking you for ‘x’ amount is because it is your life you used to exchange for that money. Remember, at the nine to five job you have, you log in your time and at the end of the month they give you money in exchange for your life. So, when you hold your money, you are actually holding your life. Do you see now why it is so important to God? That is the sacrifice.

There are two extremes when it comes to this. Some people just preach money off the cliff and some Pastors are afraid to talk about money because people will be angry. As for me, I will teach you what God’s Word says. God wants your money because He wants your life. Some people may struggle with this but think about it this way. You want to marry this particular lady but you never buy her anything. If that lady has common sense, she will not marry you. Is she after your money? Of course not but you need to spend money on her. Buy her beautiful dresses, pay for her hair; being a man is a lot of work. You are reassuring her of your affection by buying her gifts and giving her money. She is still on the phone telling you about her flat tire and you have sent someone over to change it. How do you think she will feel? If there are two friends going after the same lady, one showers her with gifts and the other one even though he has the money to spend, isn’t spending a dime on her. What do you think is going to happen? The question again, is she is after his money? No, it is because you can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me love You with my body, my time, and my substance, in Jesus Name.
