More Than These?
“After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him” John 21:15.
Every utterance will be tested. I am telling you this, by the grace of God, as somebody that is privileged [as we all are also] to walk with God. As you walk with God, believe me, God will test everything. When Abraham said He loved God, like Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you” John 21:17. In other words, he was saying you are the God that knows the heart of man; you do not need to test me, just know my heart. But God says no, I need your heart to be revealed. God is going to place a demand on you and I but the question will always be, do you love me more than these?
When you have a sacred cow, God is looking at that cow you know. I don’t know if this has happened to you but I have been through seasons where I have something I cherish, I do not particularly term it sacred but as I look at the thing, I know that God is looking at it too. And I am tempted to ask the Lord to please take His eyes off that thing but I know that there is no other way; the destiny of the thing has been determined. So I say to you like Abraham discovered, like everyone that walks with God will discover, when you release everything you have to God, you provoke God to release everything He has to you. Let’s think about it, who has more? Again I say, when you release everything you have to God, you provoke God to release everything He has to you. I pray that everyone that reads this today will have a deep understanding of this truth. People around you may not understand it but sometimes, it is a straight and narrow road that you have to pass through. When the glory comes, they will understand. If after receiving God’s instruction to sacrifice his only son that he waited twenty-five years for, Abraham went home and said ‘Mama Sarah, God has instructed me to sacrifice our only son Isaac’. What do you think Sarah would do? She would eyeball Abraham with the ‘rage of a woman’ and probably say, ‘Then you would have to go through me!’ Or if she were diplomatic, she probably would point him in the direction of Ishmael. There are certain things that God will require of you, sometimes even your spouse will not understand, believe me! My wife is the greatest woman on earth, she has the greatest faith I have seen but a few times, God has required things of me that made my wife quiver. But I can tell you that when you release to God, you provoke God to release to you. There is nothing God requires of me today that will make my wife quiver; you know why? It is because she has seen God release to me, to us.
Prayer: Father, may it be said of me that I never held anything back from You, in Jesus Name.
