His Business

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” Isa.55:9-10

God will do what He says He will do but He will not do it ‘how’ you want Him to do it. God rarely, if ever, commits to ‘how’. He can show you ‘how’ as your relationship grows but He doesn’t commit to ‘how’. God only commits to ‘what’, He doesn’t commit to ‘how’. ‘How’ He is going to do what He says He will do is His business. Many times, while trusting God for something, I have attempted to reason out the way [the how] God is going to do what I am trusting Him for and how I would respond to each move He makes. Guess what? Most of the time, not all the time, God doesn’t work the way I have imagined He would. It is as if He takes delight in saying, son think up all your scenarios and I think of everything and He just says I will do it in My own way and it has nothing to do with any of your scenarios.

Mark Batterson puts it this way, “It is not human effort that makes miracles happen, but lack of effort can keep them from happening”. I find this statement so profound. Look at the case of Jesus and the wine; was it the effort of the servant that turned the water into wine? Of course not! But without them obeying and doing what He says to do, will the water have turned to wine? While it is has nothing to do with human effort but without human effort miracles would not happen. But human effort cannot cause miracles to happen. So you cannot sit in your house, not doing anything, and say you have received the anointing to bloom. You do not have a job and you decide not to knock on doors, or submit your resume. You just sit at home, not even pushing rather all you keep saying is your miracle has come. Do nothing and nothing will happen! Your bloom means go and knock on the doors and the doors that have been shut before will be opened. That is what it means.

What I am saying is this, there is an anti-obedience movement in Church that says, you do not need to obey God or do anything, just live your life the way you want because Jesus did it all – Jesus paid it all. There is this story about a man who owed someone five million. He heard the Jesus paid it all message one day in church and when home rejoicing. When his creditor came to demand his money, the man said “were you not in church today? Jesus paid it all, including what I owe you”. You can imagine what would happen next. The point is this, will he not still have to pay what he owes even though Jesus paid it all? Except the creditor forgives him. You have to do what you need to do then watch God do what only He can do.

Prayer: Father, I submit to Your way because I know that Your thoughts for me are thoughts of good and not of evil and You have greatness in store for me, in Jesus Name.
