All Or Nothing?

“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together” Gen.22:8 [KJV]

Being sold out is so crucial. God took my wife and I through an interesting path, a season that God was challenging us to be totally sold out. We used to pastor in a denominational church before God called us out. But while we were there, I was running a business locally and internationally and they were doing well. Then something happened; you know when God calls you in a certain way that makes your knees weak because you are not sure what is coming next. Interestingly, at this point the organization was not paying me a salary because I didn’t want one. My wife and I were supporting the work with a lot of other people that God had brought to join us and we were happy doing that. But God said I want you to shut down your businesses and focus on the ministry. I said, I do not get a salary, Lord, and I have responsibilities. It was a personal thing I had to wrestle with but I obeyed God’s leading. I told my wife about the new direction; I have never seen a woman with so much faith. Her next words were few but weighty, she said are you sure? I said as sure as I know my name. Then she asked, how are we going to do xyz? And I said the Lord will provide and we embarked on the journey together without telling anybody. In fact the person that used to work closest to me at the time didn’t get to know until a whole year had passed. She had observed I wasn’t traveling as often as I used to or attending meetings. If she was my source I would probably have been long gone before she noticed but all of my help comes from the Lord. There were periods we were literally living from day to day, going from week to week not knowing what would happen next. We would still show up and preach powerfully and go home believing God. Interesting times but God was teaching us how to be totally sold out. A year and a half into this walk of faith a friend of ours called to speak to both of us, he said I think God is saying you should stop your businesses and focus on the ministry. I started laughing and he asked me why. I said God already told me a year and a half ago. He said what did you do and I told him I obeyed God and shut everything down. But he was concerned about the urgency he perceived in his spirit. The message was actually for my wife because even though she was following me, she still had questions. Who wouldn’t have questions? Some people would not even follow. I said to her if God has called us, God will keep us. After that call my wife plugged into the vision a hundred percent and our finances skyrocketed. We moved from managing to abundance. I learnt a huge lesson; your wife is a very powerful force spiritually.

Prayer [song]: Lord I give You my heart, I give You my soul, I live for You alone. Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake, Lord have Your way in me. Amen!
