Amazing Ability

“But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water” Matt.14:27-28

Peter and all the other disciples we in the middle of a crisis, yet Peter asked Jesus if he could walk on water. How did Peter even think about that? He saw Jesus walking on water and Peter thought to himself, how would it feel to walk on water? Many of us really need to let our imagination loose. As human beings God has blessed us with a unique ability to imagine and to visualize the impossible. As a church, months before we moved into our own property, we visualized and sketched out the structures and positioning of those structures on the land. But in reality none of the things existed and we did not have the money to do it but we had the imagination. And guess what, He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we can ask, think, or imagine or even more than we had visualized.
Other animals really do not imagine. Have you ever seen the ant say it wants to fly? It is only man that can say I want to fly and man ended up flying. If a bird decides to swim underwater what will happen to that bird? But man has this unique ability to visualize things and bring it to pass. You need to let your imagination loose. When you see people “walking on water” what goes through your mind? What goes through your mind when you see a Bill Gates for instance? Is it that those are special people and such things do not happen to people like you? For those who like playing football, when you see the football icons of our day what goes through your mind? Do you think those people are superstars and you are ordinary? Not Peter, Peter said if Ronaldo can score a goal, I too can score a goal. If Jesus can walk on water, I too can walk on water. Now stop for a little while and just think about that because I need you to get this. In that same boat there was Bartholomew, Thaddeus, Mathew, Judas and Thomas. Imagine what Thomas would have said when Peter asked to walk on water. But Peter ignored all of that. You need to relate to God as a child, Peter saw Jesus and said ‘Jesus me too, I want to walk on water.’ One of the things you will learn about children is that they are experts in saying “me too”. Once you oblige one you must be willing to oblige the others. Imagine what would have happened if Peter stepped out of the boat and Bartholomew said me too, then Thaddeus, and Thomas. The boat would have been unnecessary; they would all have been walking on water going to the land. If only we would take the lids off our imagination and just be like children with God.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me relate with God as a child and take the lid off my imagination, in Jesus Name.
