Daily Bread

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing” John15:5

How will you treat a relationship that is your life? How will you handle a relationship that your life, existence, and eternity depends on? Imagine a young man who has lived in abject poverty all his life gets to meet the president. And the president says to him, one day in the coming week, between Monday and Friday I will meet you at location X and give you a contract that will turn your life around. So from Monday to Friday this week be at location X by four in the morning. What do you think the young man will do? What will you do if that person was you? I presume there will be no question of; I am sorry, or lateness, or I did not feel like it, or I did not have anything to wear, or the weather was not favorable. Guess what? With God Almighty, your life and your eternity hang on your relationship with Him. How have you been treating this relationship? Has praying, your quiet time, or reading the Bible become an afterthought? It is because you do not understand that as a Christian, without Jesus, you can do nothing. You need to get to the point where you cannot do without Jesus because your next breath is not guaranteed without Him. God wants to get you to a place where He is not just a solution but He is your need, your priority. Jesus has to be the life that you breathe for you to climb the heights that you see. Jesus is not just the answer that you go after but He becomes the very air that you breathe. How you treat a relationship that is your life is that you put your whole life into it. Your relationship with God cannot be treated like a passion that you have. Yes you have to love God passionately but go beyond that and make Jesus your life, your daily bread. Get personal with God. He is extending His hands to you in this season, reach out and grab it because you life and your eternity depend on it.

Forget about time and people, forget about possessions and where provision is going to come from and just focus on God alone. He who has everything and Jesus does not have more than he who has Jesus alone. Can you do without Jesus? Have you been doing without Jesus? Have you been saying you cannot do without Jesus but you have actually been doing without Him? God wants you and I to live our lives as though without Him we are dead because in truth, without Him we are dead. If God withdraws for one day, it is all over. I need God to survive. Do you need God to survive?

Prayer [song]: This is the air I breathe, Your Holy Presence living in me. This is my daily bread, Your very Word spoken to me. And I’m desperate for You, …I’m lost without You.
