Witnesses

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere… and to the ends of the earth” Acts 1:8

Jesus says about you and I, “…you will be my witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere”. We are witnesses for Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit has planted all that we need to be effective witnesses in us. However, you cannot stand as a witness to an event you did not witness otherwise you will be a false witness. What this simply means is that you cannot begin to talk about sharing Jesus if you do not have Jesus yourself. When you have Christ, there is pressure on you from Heaven to share Christ. Some of us do the necessary things by living well and having a good testimony. So we feel that as long as we live well, our lives are a testimony, so people will be saved because of our lives. Unfortunately, this is very far from the truth. What your life will do to them is stir up the desire to be saved. Your life will stir up in them the inbuilt desire in every man to seek out a greater purpose. The truth is that watching you alone will not save your neighbor or that family member who is close to you but far from God. It is like putting a hungry man in a house filled with food but giving him no access to the kitchen. This will only cause his hunger to more than double what it originally was. In actual sense, you have not done that hungry man any good. This is very similar to living a godly life but declining every opportunity God brings your way to share Jesus. How can you have Christ in your heart and not share Him? How can the people who are close to you but far from God hear about Jesus except someone tells them about Jesus? Faith comes by hearing not by observation, and hearing the Word of God. Since you are living right, God expects you to take it one step further and share Christ. Your life then becomes a testament of what you are sharing. Living for God is necessary but that is not all that is required when it comes to being witnesses. You and I must step out and share Christ, talk about Jesus and who He is to you. Let people around you see your struggles and how Jesus has helped you overcome. Let them know about your pain and how God has healed you. Let them know about things you trusted God for and how God came through for you. So that God can be magnified before their eyes. God is depending on you to be His witnesses and it is for this reason that He has giving you His Spirit. Help people around you taste and see that the Lord is good. Witness about God’s mercy and grace in your life to everyone. All you and I need to do is speak, leave the actual conversion to the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Father, please help me verbalize the testimony of Jesus in my life to everyone around me and let this obedience birth salvation in many, in Jesus Name.
