Keys To Effortless Worship II
“But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way” John 4:23
We have established that worship flows from the heart but the question is what kind of heart makes worship effortless?
A joyful heart: “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice” Phil.4:4. The background to this is Paul was imprisoned, flogged, in chains, and he had been stripped of his rights. But Paul could still say, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice”. How often should his soul and by extension our souls rejoice in the Lord? Always. Put yourself in Paul’s situation, there are certain times when you want to praise the Lord but something in you questions that very action and attempts to shut you up. Your head forces you to examine your situation, you have bills to pay, no salary, so how can you praise the Lord? I feel as though this was the kind of situation Paul found himself in when he wrote this Scripture. He says rejoice in the Lord always and something in him says how can you rejoice you are in chains? And Paul answered back, again I say rejoice! Some of us need to get to that place where we say these very words to our soul again and again. When everything in you says you cannot be rejoicing but you silence that very thought with your rejoicing again and again. Why ?, because a joyful heart is a healthy heart and when joy is present worship is possible. You cannot worship if you are not joyful or if you allow sorrow to engulf your heart. “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice!”
A carefree heart: A heart of worship is a carefree heart. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” Phil.4:6. This same Paul in prison with chains and afflicted says don’t worry about anything. Isn’t that just perplexing? Do not worry about anything. Paul but you are in chains. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” Phil.4:6-7. This is either God or denial. But this is God and His Word to us today is “Be careful for nothing”. With everything that is facing us in this country and with all the challenges before us? God is saying be careful for nothing. Do not worry about it. While everyone else is panicking, you will enjoy the peace of God that passes all understanding.
Thought: Will you chose to trust God and pray?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I chose to trust in You and in Your Word, guide my words and my actions, in Jesus Name.
