Lifestyle Of Worship II
“Seven times each day I stop and shout praises for the way you keep everything running right” Ps.119:164 [MSG]
How else does worship become a life style? It goes way beyond just Sunday meetings alone. So how else? Schedule a fixed time with God. If you want to develop a lifestyle of worship then fix a time that you will meet with God. You need to fix a time, just fix a time that you meet with God. Just fix the time! Some people are early morning people, fix a time in the morning. Some people are nocturnal people, fix a time in the night. Some people are afternoon people, then just fix a time that you will meet with God and commit to it. Just you alone with God, your God. While I am an advocate for time in devotion with your family, I also am a strong advocate for some serious alone time with God. Fix a time when you will meet with God. Fix an appointment with God and put it on your calendar or set a reminder on your mobile device.
“ I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just” Ps.119:164. David had seven appointments with God in one day. Now you understand why God would say this is a man after His heart. David was the king, he was the busiest person hopefully in Israel but seven times a day he will pause and worship God then continue with his life. If David had an alarm clock he probably would set it for 12am, 4am, 9am, 12noon, 3pm, 7pm, and 10pm. This just sounds monotonous to some people. Yet for David his passion to worship flowed from a grateful heart, a joyful heart, a carefree heart, and a content heart. It becomes monotonous when one of these four things is missing or has been replaced with something else. David had seven appointments a day with God. Some of us have one or two appointments with God a day. Praise God for the one or two appointments but strive for more. And if you do not have an appointment with God yet, then schedule one today. How do you schedule a meeting with God? The same way you would schedule a meeting with your boss or your client. Open your calendar. Pen the time. Set your reminder or alarm. That is how to develop a life of worship. And when the time comes, go to God. David’s life was constantly in motion but he says I stop and shout praises for the way You keep everything running right. Amazing! He stops and says see how you have made the moon to give light at night, Lord, I worship You. David was not idle, he just made time for God, he made time to honor God. Will you?
Prayer [song]: O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art…
