For Love

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16

The most popular scripture in the Bible is, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal lifeJohn 3:16 [emphasis added]. What actually motivated God to give Jesus to us was love. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost Luke 19:10 [emphasis added]. Please read Luke 15. Jesus told us a three-fold story in Luke15, first is the story of the lost sheep, then the story of the lost coin, and then the story of the lost son. The Lord Jesus was using these three stories to show us His heart. Jesus has come to seek and to save that which was lost and that is you and I. Think about it, if something gets lost and the owner drops everything to look for it, it therefore implies that that thing is valuable. So loss implies value. Which means that for God to step out of His comfort zone and seek me, I am valuable. You are valuable. Say I am valuable! We are worth searching and finding and this is love. You are worth something to God. You are valuable to God. You are worth saving and that is love.

A poet puts it this way in the poem titled Our Greatest Need, “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer. But our greatest need was forgiveness, So God sent us a Savior”. The point is this, if we had not needed a Savior, God would not have wasted His time to send us one. So stop trying to save yourself. Some of us think that if we can just keep eight out of the Ten Commandments, then we would be fine. Some of us try so hard to save ourselves. You need to stop trying to save yourself. Jesus came to save you and I. But until you see yourself as a sinner, you will not see your need for a Savior. As long as you keep making excuses for yourself, as long as you keep excusing the sin, you will not see the need for a Savior. And Jesus is the Savior today and forever. His Name is Emmanuel. Which means that not only is God for us, God is with us. You can be for someone and not be with that person. A father can be for his family, he works hard, attends all the meetings and conferences but he is never at home with them. But he sorts out all their needs. But God is not only for us; God is with us.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for sending me a Saviour. Thank You Lord for being with me and for me, in Jesus Name.
