Love is … IV

“…it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out” 1 Cor.13:5-6

Love does not keep record of wrong. Peter had concerns about this issue of forgiveness and not keeping record of wrong. Peter was saying to Jesus this thing you are saying is not practical. But since you are the one preaching it then tell me, how many times must I forgive my brother of offence in one day? Jesus said, seventy times seven times which equals 490 times [Matt.18:21-22 paraphrased]. In other words, once the person crosses to four hundred and ninety-one then do not forgive him. Even if you are living with the devil, when he gets to offence number three hundred the person will probably talk to himself. You will really have a problem if you can keep track of four hundred and ninety offences in one day. Something is terribly wrong with that person. In other words, Jesus is saying it is impractical to keep score so do not bother with it.

Sadly, some people are so vindictive that until they get even they cannot rest. XYZ person did this to me and I need to get my pound of flesh back. My question to you is when you get the pound of flesh what will be left? Bones? Love does not keep record of wrong. Even Pastors are not exempt from this. When I offend my wife she does something very interesting, she writes me a ticket of forgiveness and gives it to me. Only heaven knows how many tickets I have collected. Say this aloud; I wipe away every record of wrong that I have kept in Jesus Name. As you are going into the New Year, wipe all the record of wrong away. Do not carry anything into the New Year, wipe it away, and set yourself free. So, what if the person does it again? Well then it will be new and you will forgive it again and let it go.

#9. Love does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. Love does not rejoice when somebody falls. Love does not rejoice when there is injustice. Love does not say, “That serves him or her right”. Love stays in the place of truth and justice.

#10. Love never gives up. “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance 1 Cor.13:7. If every one of us will print this and read it as often as possible, our relationships will be so strong. God wants us to walk in love and love never gives up. Love is always hopeful. So your husband is going through a really hard time, love never gives up, love stays with him and keeps the faith, endures through all circumstances.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me not to keep record of wrong, not to rejoice about injustice but rejoice when truth wins out. Lord, teach me to never give up or loose faith, to always be hopeful and endure through every circumstance, in Jesus Name.
