Be Careful!

Then the Lord told Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones. I will write on them the same words that were on the tablets you smashed… No one else may come with you…”  Ex.34:1&3

Please read 2 Kings 3:10-16 – it is the story of three kings who found themselves in a mess. And one of them [Jehoshaphat] said to the king of Israel, “let us find Elisha, the Word of God is with him”. Elisha was a man that was anointed of God; a solid prophet. They got to Elisha and he came out. But when he saw the king of Israel, he got so angry he could not even look at him. He said I do not even want to see your face; go and call the prophets of your fathers. And because Elisha was so angry, he got out of tune with the Holy Spirit. But Jehoshaphat pleaded with him, and when Elisha wanted to bring a Word from the Lord, he discovered that he was out of tune. So he requested for a minstrel and as the minstrel began to play, worship started, tuning started, and the Word of God came “thus says the Lord”.

Worship is totally very powerful. However, I am not giving you a formula. I am not saying when you get angry and get out of tune, you can always worship and get back in-tune. That is not what I am saying. I am showing you that it is possible to get tuned back through worship. However, sometimes anger can damage some things and make them irreparable.

Ask the man Moses. Moses was also a solid man of God. God wrote the Ten Commandments and gave it to Moses but Moses got angry and smashed the stone tablets. And God punished Moses; God said to him you had Joshua’s support before but now come up the mountain carrying the stones and do not bring anybody with you. What was God saying? Come up and carry the stones by yourself. Which is easier, coming down the mountain carrying the stones with support or climbing up the mountains carrying the stones? Read it; it is in the Bible [Exodus 32 & 34]. So God was saying, be careful.

The children of Israel needed water so God said to Moses, speak to the rock. But what did Moses do? He struck the rock. He was vexed and in his anger he struck the rock. We will discover later in Scripture that that rock was Christ. So Moses was flogging Christ. And God said to him, you are not going to enter the Promised Land. It was Moses’ destiny to enter the Promised Land but anger cut it short.

Prayer: Lord, please purge me completely of anger so that it will not truncate my destiny in You, in Jesus Name.
