Risen!
“The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” Luke 24:5
“Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” This is such an amazing statement. These women meant well; they did not mean to insult Jesus. I have news for you today. Mark today’s date in your diary. There are well meaning people that will come and look for you in the grave but they will discover that the tomb is empty. They will discover that God has resurrected you from the place they kept you. And if God will open their eyes to see, the angels will say to them, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” They are so sure that they will find you at the vendor’s stand flipping through free newspapers searching for job applications. Guess what? The next time they check, you will not be there anymore because you are gainfully employed.
They can predict that you will be coming for your medication because you are perpetually sick. But because Jesus will heal you, they will hold your prescription and they will not see you to receive it. Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” Nobody expected Jesus to rise. If I was Jesus, I will feel so bad because nobody even expected me to rise again. Not even the women; they did not expect Jesus to rise. How do I know? They went there with spices and with linen because it was two men that prepared Jesus’ body. And you know that when men prepare something, women need to revisit it and do it properly. So they brought spices and linen, so they can unwrap him and do it properly. In essence, they did not believe He was going to rise.
Nobody gave Jesus a chance. The Pharisees also did not believe He was going to rise. They believed He would be stolen and so they put guards there to eliminate that possibility. Peter did not believe; even John the beloved, did not believe. The apostles did not believe that Jesus would rise. How did I know? Read John 20. Nobody gave Jesus a chance, so why are you worried that nobody is giving you a chance and that nobody believes in you? Why is that your preoccupation? God believes in you and He will raise you up.
Prayer: Father, I thank You because concerning me heaven shall also declare, why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive, in Jesus Name.
