Living King

Phil.3:10 “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…” (emphasis added).

We start today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is that every eyewitness of Jesus’ resurrection held on to their testimony until death. The twelve gave their lives for the testimony that Jesus is alive. When I think about Thomas, ‘doubting Thomas’, I am totally blown away. Read the rest of this entry

Know Christ

Phil.3:10 “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…” (emphasis added)

To experience the mighty power that raised Jesus from the dead, you have to know Christ. To get up and be all that we are meant to be, we must know Christ. We must know the Living Jesus, that Jesus Christ is alive. We must know the King Jesus, that Jesus Christ is King. Read the rest of this entry

Understand This

Isaiah 40:13-14 “Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?

Easter is all about getting up. You may have been down because of perhaps happenings in the world today, or maybe even your personal issues now compounded by world events. But Easter is about getting up. You may be emotionally down, or maybe spiritually down, or maybe even physically down. Read the rest of this entry

Loaded Benefits I

John 20:21 “Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you”

John 20:17Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Jesus made it possible for His Father to truly be our Father. Read the rest of this entry

Seeker Heart I

Matt.12:20 “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he has brought justice through to victory.”

Jesus could not resist Mary’s love and thirst for Him. Jesus said, ‘Ma-ry!’ and even though Mary did not recognize Him facially, she recognized that nickname, that special way Jesus calls her. The Bible says, Read the rest of this entry

Him Alone

Isa. 55:1 “Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy grain and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost [simply accept it as a gift from God].” (AMP).

It is possible to come to the waters and not drink if you are not thirsty. Interestingly, it is only what you thirst for that can satisfy your thirst. Nothing else can. Peter and John had left but Mary could not leave, she was thirsty because, at this point, all Mary had was Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Son of Man

John 11:51-52 “He did not say this on his own; as high priest at that time he was led to prophesy that Jesus would die for the entire nation. And not only for that nation, but to bring together and unite all the children of God scattered around the world.”

John 11:44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” [KJV]. Jesus had already brought Lazarus back to life, but He chose not to do the remaining work for them. Read the rest of this entry

Voice of Purpose

Ps.29:4,7,&9 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

John 11:37But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?” Why didn’t Jesus keep Lazarus from dying? Jesus did not keep Lazarus from dying because Jesus wanted to raise Lazarus from the dead. Why didn’t God stop them from firing me from my job? Read the rest of this entry

The I AM

John 11:25-26 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

Resurrection and Life is not an event or a time. Resurrection and Life is a person. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, not a theological expression anymore but a living breathing human being. Jesus stood there and Martha was pointing to a future event and Jesus said, ‘I am Alpha and Omega, Read the rest of this entry

What Will It Be?

John 11:20 & 32 “When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house.” … “When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Martha and Mary are both Christians but with two very different personalities. Both interacted with Jesus differently and both got different responses from Him, even though Jesus loved them both. When we contrast Martha’s response to Mary’s response from today’s scripture reference, Read the rest of this entry
