Prayer

Rom.8:26 “A similar thing happens when we pray. We are weak and do not know how to pray, so the Spirit steps in and articulates prayers for us with groaning too profound for words.” (Voice)

What does prayer mean to you? From my interactions with people, it is pretty clear to me that we all need to understand prayer better. Some people say, what is in prayer? Is it not just to pray to God? However, you will be surprised that most times people are off course because of a lack of Read the rest of this entry

Will You?

John 4:25-26 “The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!”

Jesus was vulnerable, you have to take off the mask, you have to take it off! I want to encourage you to read the entire John 4. It is a beautiful story. I will just go straight to where we are going but read it so you can get the context. Jesus was thirsty on the cross, but that was not the first time He was thirsty. Read the rest of this entry

Living King

Phil.3:10 “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…” (emphasis added).

We start today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday which is that every eyewitness of Jesus’ resurrection held on to their testimony until death. The twelve gave their lives for the testimony that Jesus is alive. When I think about Thomas, ‘doubting Thomas’, I am totally blown away. Read the rest of this entry

Humble Your Heart

James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the Lord’s presence. Then he will give you a high position, and he will make you great.” [GW & ERV]

Definite Turnaround

2 Kings 3:17-18 “You will see neither wind nor rain, says the Lord, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and your cattle and other animals. But this is only a simple thing for the Lord, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab!”

Continual Coming

Luke 18:1 “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” (emphasis added).

Jesus told a story in Luke 18:1-8 [please read] of the importunate woman. And right at the beginning, Jesus tells us the objective of the story is that we should always pray and never give up.God is saying to you and I, do not give up! Pray!

James 5:13 “Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated, suffering evil)? Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.”(AMPC & NLT)

Acts 16:25-26 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” [emphasis added]. Acts 16:27-28The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!

The question that comes to mind after reading today’s anchor scripture is, even though Paul and Silas were free why did they not run? Even though they were free, the chains were broken, and the doors were open, why did they not escape, Read the rest of this entry
