New Season

1 Cor.9:26 “So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.”

Phil.3:12-13Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” (NIV, emphasis added). This is Paul speaking after he has done so much; taken so many territories for God, discipled thousands, and thousands of leaders, plus made an amazing impact for the Kingdom of God. For us to be all that God has called us to be, we have to take Bold Steps. To take the territories that God has for us, we have to take Bold Steps. In our finances, in our spiritual walk, and in our work for God we have to take Bold Steps. It takes boldness to wake up at a certain time, to pray and seek God.

Think about it, really it is boldness to offer up prayers to a God you cannot see. Sometimes, people will call you crazy. It takes bold steps to take your relationship with God, your spouse, and your children to the next level. There are certain conversations that you need to have, there are certain steps you need to take, there are certain things you need to do to move the ball forward. You require boldness and it will take bold steps for that to happen. Most people are comfortable just moving around in circles. For some of us, if you are to evaluate your education, or your career, or your business, or your finances, or your relationship with your spouse and children, or your relationship with your colleagues, the one phrase that would best describe it will be moving round in circles. There is motion but there is really no progress.

For you to have real progress, you must take bold steps. So, you need to realize that motion is not progress, as it is commonly said. Spiritually, there is a lot of noise, a lot of steam, a lot of smoke, but there is no progress. There is motion but there is no progress. Relationally, same thing, a lot of motion, a lot of activity but there is no progress, no intimacy. If this is the summary of any area in your life, fasten your seatbelt because your life is about to change drastically. You can’t keep going in circles and expect to have progress. You have to break out of it, and it takes a lot of energy and a lot of courage to break out of the cycle. I do not want to bore you with all of the physics. But imagine if there is a force pushing someone round and round, for that person to break out of that orbit, he or she needs a lot of energy.

However, we need to first and foremost disabuse our minds. We cannot continue to do what we are doing and expect something to change. In fact, Albert Einstein says that is the definition of insanity. It is madness to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. In fact, in another instance Einstein says, you cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that made the problem. You have to break out of that level of thinking.

Prayer: Father, I break into the new, running with purpose in every step, in Jesus Name. Amen!
