Take Note IV

“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power… so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel…” John 13:3-5[NIV]

Today we start with the story of a professor in the United States, probably a philosophy professor. One day, at the end of his class with the auditorium still filled with students, he said there is no God. And he put forward a challenge. He said if there is God let Him knock me off this stage in five minutes. Everywhere went quiet, and then he began to look at his watch and mock God. Interestingly a three hundred pound [about 130kg] American football player heard the professor while he was waiting in the corridor for his friend that was in the class. And after a while the football player ran into the auditorium, carried the professor and slammed him on the ground. The professor was furious and the football player said God was busy so He sent me.

Never ever say in your heart my strength has gotten this, or it is because I am smart, or beautiful, or because I am connected. Never ever! Your influence is going to grow but you have to leverage every influence you get for the Kingdom of God. You have to because you are God’s representative.

God is going to so promote you that you will all of a sudden, become the most important person in the room, the office, the meeting, and in the discussions. The question to you is what do you do when you discover that you are the most important person in the room? What do you do when you enter a business meeting and it dawns on you that you are the most important person in the room? Yes, God has increased your influence but what do you do?

What you do is what Jesus did at the last supper; Jesus got up, got on His knees and cleaned the disciple’s feet. Fantastic example! So what you do when you are the most important person in the room is to leverage your influence to serve other people. And the reason is that the best leaders serve people. As a man when you discover you are the most important person in your home, take a napkin and wash everybody’s feet. As the most important person in your domain, you have to leverage that influence for the benefit of others. That is what God expects you and me to do.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the promise of Victory. As You increase my influence, help me consistently leverage it for the Kingdom of God, in Jesus Name.
