Picture It
“If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves” Prov.29:18 [MSG, emphasis added]
In the Book of Joshua, chapter six [please read] is the story of Israel. God had given them a clear objective to take Jericho. God said you and your fighting men should march round the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the ram’s horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Heaven will hear, the angels will be released and the walls will come down [translated]. Clear objective. Guess what Jericho did? As big as Jericho was, as fortified as they were, as advanced in military warfare as they were, they chose to sit back and defend. Their walls were so thick that they built houses on the walls; imagine a wall that can have houses on it.
The children of Israel were walking round; they had an objective. The people of Jericho were probably looking at them and laughing, calling them crazy people. The second day, they walked round and nothing happened. They would have laughed even harder at them. Sometimes, having an objective will make you look like a fool. It is okay to look like a fool; at the end of the day we will know who the fool is. The third day, fourth day, and on the fifth day the king of Jericho might have sent people to check what they were doing. Are they trying to look for holes in the wall? He probably would laugh and call for more wine. But on the seventh day, seven times they marched and gave a blast and the walls crashed. They charged into the city and they took a city greater than them. That is the power of having an objective and it is indispensable.
What is the principle of The Objective? In military strategy the principle of the objective states thus: “Direct all efforts towards a clearly defined, decisive, and attainable objective”. Have an objective, let it be clearly defined, decisive, and attainable then direct all efforts. What is the objective when you look at your business? What does victory look like in your business? What does victory look like in your relationship with your spouse? Direct all efforts in that direction. How much effort? All effort!
Prayer: Lord, help me see Your vision of victory in my life and help me come up with a clear objective to claim my victory, in Jesus Name.
