Learn To Obey I
“…teach older women to be holy in their behavior, not speaking against others or enslaved to too much wine, but teaching what is good. Then they can teach the young women to love their husbands to love their children” Titus 2:3-4 [NCV]
The way community is structured is that you always have upward vertical, downward vertical and horizontal relationships. The challenge is that many people do not know how to respond in these levels of relationships. People want to pull out of community because maybe the people in their horizontal relationships are competing with them or vice versa and that is not healthy. Some people do not want to be responsible for other people in their downward vertical relationships. They do not care who goes to hell. They just want God to bless their own family.
Some people do not know how to respond to upward vertical relationships. Such people cannot submit to anybody because they do not want anybody to tell them what to do. Such people will have a problem with God. Why? Because with God you need to get under the things that God has put above you so that you can be over the things that God has put under you. An Old Chinese saying states, “He who would rule must learn to obey”. Unfortunately, we have people that are jeopardizing their destiny of greatness just because they want to belong to themselves. It does not work!
For example, I read somewhere that the most important food is breakfast. So I got home and told my wife that there had to be breakfast in the house henceforth and she agreed to do it. But for some reason, maybe because we had been used to a particular pattern of life, she did not have the strength to do it consistently. Then it got so frustrating and when I get frustrated, I report people to God. Yes, I will report you to God if you frustrate me. I am sorry but that is what I do. So I said to God, “it is Your authority I have and they are not obeying it”. I can never forget what God said to me. He said, “you want breakfast?” I said “yes Sir”. He said, “where is My own breakfast? You want breakfast, wake up and worship”.
So the next morning, I woke up rolled off the bed, fell face down and worshiped God. Guess what? My wife began to get up to make breakfast by herself. When you get under the things God has put over you, you will be able to get over the things that God has put under you. It is so powerful and I pray we get it.
Prayer: Lord, I ask for the wisdom to respond appropriately in every level of relationships You have and will bring into my life, in Jesus Name
