Because He Lives

“Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” John 11:39

Lazarus was not only sick, he died. He did not only die, he was buried and he had started decaying. In other words, bacteria and fungi had begun to feast on him, releasing  ammonia or whatever waste product they release that causes the stench of a dead body. By now the irreversible appears to have happened. By now Jesus, it is impossible for You to do anything. Because Lazarus came back to life, everything that represents Lazarus in your life will come back to life. Because Jesus is alive, it will come back to life. I beseech you [using Paul’s terminology], do not take this season lightly.

“Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” John 11:43. It is crucial to understand that Jesus shouted Lazarus come forth and the dead obeyed Him. Imagine what it took for that to happen because Lazarus’ body would have started decaying, his flesh would have had maggots everywhere. And when Jesus said Lazarus come forth, what happened was like a reversal. Imagine the maggots disappearing, the decaying flesh rejuvenated, the parts that no longer had flesh on it, the flesh growing back and life coming back into him. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever!

The situation may appear to have decayed, but in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Lazarus will come forth in your life. For some it is just sickness and not even death yet. For some it is death but they have not yet been buried. For some they have just been buried and have not begun to decay yet. And some have actually begun to decay. Regardless of where you are on the spectrum, that Lazarus will come back to life, in the mighty Name of Jesus. This is the beauty of Jesus. He does not just want to give us life, He wants to give us abundant life.

When you begin to align and walk with God, when you begin to do the things that God has called you to do, inevitably people will talk. People always have something to say. It was not different in Jesus’ time. “The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!” But some said, “This man healed a blind man. Couldn’t he have kept Lazarus from dying?” John 11:36-37. Make up your mind to be all that God has created you to be.

Prayer [song]: Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds my future, my life is worth living just because He lives. Amen!
