A Child’s Heart

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of correction will drive it far from him” Prov.22:15 [NKJV]

You need to accept the fact that people will always talk. And like we said yesterday, it was not any different in Jesus’ time. So just make up your mind to be all that God has created you to be and do not entertain people’s opinions. Sometime last year, the story of the Baltimore mum made headlines. A young man was practically killed by the police in Baltimore and so a riot broke out. The youngsters took to the streets to protest and before long it turned into looting and all sorts of lawless behavior.

A mother was watching the news on television and saw her son. So she went there and disciplined her son right there on the streets. Interestingly, the police chief came out and said he wishes all mothers would take control of their children. And I thought to myself but when the children call 911, you are the one that will go and arrest the mothers. The lesson from this story is that you cannot do anything against God’s Word. The Bible says foolishness abides in the heart of a child [that is where it is], but there is something called the rod of correction. Why? It is because if you do not discipline your children, they will discipline you. So what will it be?

The Baltimore mum became a national hero practically. So people began to reconsider the importance of spanking their children. They started re-thinking their social formation. It is clear in the Word of God; who sent them to deviate from it in the first place? However, the interesting thing is that people also started abusing the woman. But you have to stand your ground as a parent. Are you going to let the opinions of men dictate how you raise your children or are you going to align with God’s Word? The path you choose will determine the kind of future you produce for your children.

You do not want your children to curse you when they are old. Will your children thank you for putting them in order? Well, not immediately but when they look back, they will be totally grateful to you and to God; I know I am. When you live your life according to the Word of God, the fruits are undeniable.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me not to deviate from God’s Word and where I have deviated, please show me the path to realignment, in Jesus Name.
