The Purpose

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” 2Cor.9:8.

God is a God of abundance but God is not a God of wastage. God gives abundantly but God is not prodigal with resources. You need to understand that. In fact, for a lot of people that is the missing link.  If you check our lives, it is full of waste. We waste everything. The way we waste power in this country is almost unbelievable. Imagine a house with five rooms and the cooling units in the five rooms are left on, meanwhile everybody is in the living room – waste. Some people have enough food to feed a village in their trash – waste.

God does not like waste. Even when Jesus fed the five thousand people and there was excess, He said to them to make sure nothing goes to waste. Pack everything that is left and they packed twelve baskets full of food. Why would Jesus do that? It is because Jesus knows that having abundance does not mean wastage. God wants to move you into abundance but God does not want you to waste resources.

So how does one accept the concept of more than enough and not result to wastage? It is in  God’s Word. “And God will generously [abundantly] provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others2Cor.9:8 [emphasis added]. The purpose of the abundance is so that you can share with others. God is going to bless you abundantly so that you will have all your needs met. But beyond that, the plenty left over is for you to share with others. Take note that this is in the New Testament because some people claim that prosperity only exists in the Old Testament. Read your Bible. The abundance you are going to experience is so that you can have to share with others.

Why do you want God to bless your business? After you get the bigger house, better car, and increased mobility – then what? God is bigger than that. Have you ever considered God blessing your business so that you can employ a thousand people and feed a thousand families? And a thousand families can have their own homes, cars and increased mobility? Is that not a better plan? That is abundance. You need to begin to change your thinking and change your plans because you are planning too small.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, as You move me into abundance, help me to be deliberate about sharing with others, in Jesus Name.
