Deceitful Riches

“It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Lu.18:25

Jesus knows that it can be hard for prosperous people to establish a relationship with God. But you are going to be prosperous, in Jesus Name. And if you think you are prosperous already, I am here to tell you that you have not seen anything yet. I declare to you that you are going to be far more prosperous than you are, in Jesus Name. Why is it hard for prosperous people to establish a thriving relationship with God? There are three main reasons.

The first reason is simply because of the issue of Pride. God wants us to be like children, to humble ourselves. In fact, God says except you be like these little children you will not enter the Kingdom of God. So humility is a powerful force but money tends to make us proud. Money is neutral but pride is not. Pride drives you away from God. Proud people never admit they need help. Pride is not only a factor of the wealthy or the prosperous. There are poor people who  are proud. You can meet a man that has ‘nothing’ but he is full of pride – poor and proud of being poor. Pride is an issue.

The second reason why prosperous people find it difficult to establish a relationship with God is the deception of false security. Money gives you false security. A lot of people believe that their money can buy them out of trouble because everybody has a price. They make statements like; my mind is so sharp I can reason myself out of any puzzle, any fix, or any situation. My skills are so up to date I can work myself out of any situation. You hear such people say things like, my beauty can get anything from any man. It is false security. We tend to think we do not need God because of the false security. But such people sooner than later realize that money cannot provide security.

The third reason why prosperity kind of drives us away from God is because of a false conclusion about righteousness. Righteousness simply means being in good relationship [standing] with God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Money can create a false conclusion of righteousness. Such people’s thoughts are, if I am so bad, then why is my life so good? What do you mean I need to fix my heart? Look at my life! What do the people who are always praying have to show for it?

Prayer: Lord, You gave Abraham and David a heart that desired You above the wealth You blessed them with; do the same for me Lord, in Jesus Name.
