Honor Principle I

Eph.6:² “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: ³ If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”

We have been dealing with curses over the past few days and we are trusting God that because of this insight, there will be deliverances, in Jesus Name.

The eleventh cause of curses is neglecting or insulting parents. Please note that this curse is different from when a parent curses the child. A lot of people these days are either neglecting or insulting their parents. You may not be where you want to be financially but you can still send some kind of support to your parents periodically. When we talk about periodical support, people are quick to think about money but it does not always have to be money. You can send foodstuff to your parents. Yes, your desire is to buy them a house but before then, do the needful. In fact you need their blessings to even build the house.

I know some people would say their parents have more money than them. I am saying to you, it does not matter. You are the one that needs the blessing. Eph.6:² “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: ³ If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” In other words, if you do not honour your father and mother it will not be well with you. I did not say these words; it is God’s Word and it is in the Bible.

The Bible did not give us conditions for honoring our parents. It does not say honor your father and mother only when they are Christians. You cannot dishonor your parents because they are not Christians. Regardless of what your parent believe in, honour him or her. Even if you think she is into witchcraft. For the fact that she did not eat or harm you all this time, send her a gift.

Honor your father and your mother so that it can be well with you. Take note, I am not saying dishonor God to honor your parents. If honoring your parents will dishonor God, you DO NOT do it. As long as you are earning something, send something home to your parents. God is big on honor.

Prayer: Father, please give me the grace me to honor You and the people You have placed in authority over me. Help me teach my children this principle also, in Jesus Name. Amen!
