More Than Money

Ps.37:²⁵ “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.” [NIV, with emphasis]

The futurist magazine did an extensive survey and discovered that the number one fear of the future is financial fear. The research also revealed that there is no amount you can make or save that cannot be lost. Is that not scary? The fear of a financial future is major for a lot of people. So how can we banish financial fear? How can we be free from financial worries in a world that is highly financial and how do we live without financial fears or financial worries? There is hardly anything you will do these days without spending some money. So God is going to teach us how to completely banish financial fear.

“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.” If you check from time immemorial, now and in the future, you will never find the righteous financially forsaken or their seed begging for bread. I know that in the Scriptures there was the widow that was begging for bread. In fact, her children were about to be sold into slavery. Is this a contradiction? There are some truths you and I need to know. And there are some actions you and I need to take. So what are the truths that we need to know to banish financial fear from our lives forever?

It is unreasonable. Matt.6:²⁵ “…I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or  drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” [with emphasis]. Jesus says it is unreasonable to worry about your financial future. Life is more important than money! To worry is unreasonable.

Erroneously, people believe they would be happier if they had more money. Some couples think their marriage would be happier if they had more money. It is a big fat lie! Money is an amplifier. Whatever challenges you have right now will escalate with more money. If the man is proud, when he has a lot of money what do you think will happen? If the woman has a sharp mouth what happens when she has a lot of money? If you do not deal with the issues in your marriage, money will only amplify them.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I declare that my life is much more than what I own. Please empower me to focus on God’s goodness at all times, in Jesus Name. Amen!
