Light House

Ps.18:1 “I love you, Lord; you are my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety” [with emphasis]

Are you looking to man to be the light that brightens and brings illumination to the dark places in your life? Are you depending on a human being for protection or for energizing? Listen, you are setting yourself up for trouble. Even if the person is your spouse or your parent, you are still setting yourself up for trouble. There is no man or woman that is capable of being your light [illumination, protection and energizer], only God can. It is when you make God alone your light that you will have no fear. If you make another person your light, they can go out, burn out or die out. God alone is light everlasting!

The story is told of a woman that lost her husband and as his epitaph she wrote, “the light of my life is gone”. Five years later, God brought a wonderful man her way and they got married. Her new husband made her feel really loved and so she changed her first husband’s epitaph to read, “my first light is gone now I have a second one”. The lesson from this story is no man can be your light and you are incapable of being anybody’s light.

David knew that no matter what happens, God will have his back and God would love him. That is the greatest comfort you can ever have. Every human being has a genuine need, a deep desire to be loved. But problems arise when we think that people like us ought to be able to fully satisfy that need. I am here to tell you that such a person does not exist in flesh. The only person that is capable of fully satisfying your needs is God. Guess what? The converse is also the case; the only person that you are also able to fully satisfy is God.

You cannot fully satisfy your spouse or even your children and certainly not your parents or friends. It is impossible. If you try, you will discover that it is not possible. You cannot even fully satisfy yourself. The only person you are capable of fully satisfying is God. When I realized this truth, I began to live stress free. God can love us through people and use us to love people. But it is only God that can fully satisfy us.

Prayer [song]: You are the love of my life. You are the hope that I cling to. You mean more than this world to me. I wouldn’t trade You for silver or gold. I wouldn’t trade You for riches untold. You are, You are my everything. Amen!
