Love Matters
1 Peter 1:22 “You must keep on loving with all your heart.” [CEV, with emphasis]
A lot of people relate with God based on His power and might. Such people would usually start their prayers like this, “Oh God of heaven, Thou mighty, magnificent, omnipotent God of the universe, I come to You today…” There is nothing wrong with that because God is all that and more. He is Great, Magnificent, Omnipotent and He is the God of the universe. But guess what? When Jesus taught us to pray, Jesus said, “When you pray say “Our Father””. God wants us to come to Him on the basis of love not on the basis of how great and mighty He is. God wants us to relate with Him in love as our Father.
You will get very far in life and get away with many things when you call God “Dad”. And it is because there is a different side of God that opens up to you when you relate with Him as your “Dad”. When you call God the Judge of the whole earth, He will answer and show up for you as the Judge of the whole earth. God reveals Himself in our lives and in our situations based on whatever name we call Him. I will rather call Him “Dad” and not the Judge of the whole earth. Even though that is who God is, anyway. God is love.
Over the next few days we will be learning four keys to lasting love in our lives and our relationships. We will learn how to manifest God’s love and how it can ooze out of our lives consistently. We will learn how to engage with decisions and choices to make the love in our lives and relationships last. If you are reading this and you are married, I am happy for you because what you will learn is going to change your marriage and take it to a higher level, in Jesus Name.
If you are single I am happier for you. Many married people did a lot of trial and error and stumbled on a few things before they learnt these things. But you are going in with your eyes wide open, informed, equipped and empowered. However, if you do not even want to get married at all, I am even happier for you because you can encourage married folks. Paul never married and he gave the most profound inspired encouragement in the Bible.
Prayer: Dad, open my eyes to see as I ought and my heart to learn as I ought, in Jesus Name. Amen!
