Accept & Adore

Ex.20:⁵ “You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods… ⁶ But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me …” [with emphasis]

The truth is that attempting to shape a person to suit your fantasy can be very offensive. Attempting to reshape God to suit your fantasy is offensive to Him. If it can be offensive to us human beings, it is no different with God. Any attempt to make God conform to what we want Him to be is offensive. If the God you are worshipping is a product of your thinking, you are not worshipping YAWEH, the True and Living God.

A man had his heart set on a particular lady and so decided to ask her to marry him. So, Lucas with ring box open, goes on one knee before Lucy at the dinner table and says, “Lucy, I love you so much! And because of my love for you I need you to say a few things. If I do not tell you, nobody else will. First of all, you need to lose some weight. The fat deposit on your arms and back is not attractive. Secondly, Lucy I love you and love tells the truth. You really need to work on your grammar. Some of your pronunciations are way, way off.  I know a finishing school you can go to. You are a really, nice lady and  beautiful too, but you have mouth odour! We need to fix that. So, Lucy, will you marry me?” What do you think the answer will be? Lucy will probably give Lucas a slap first. He does not love her; the person he loves is in his imagination.

The point is this, love accepts! God is saying I Am Who I Am. You cannot want to change God. Honestly that thought itself sounds ridiculous, but many people are on a mission to either change God or leave God. They have read out a riot act, “God either fit my mould or forget about it!” If you love God, you will embrace Him. Like we said in days past, if the first Commandment has to do with getting married to God, the second Commandment has to do with being faithful to Him. We are not to use God to get what we want; instead we are to love Him for who He is. So, the question to you is, do you want a genie or do you want the One True Living God? What is it going to be? Do you want a relationship with a real God? I will serve no foreign god nor any other idol except I AM.
