Ask, Seek, Knock
Luke 11:9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
The Bible says, “everyone who asks, receives, everyone who seeks, finds, and to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened”. These are the words of Jesus Himself, your case will not be different. Everyone that asks receives, you will receive what you have asked. Everyone that seeks finds, you will find what you are seeking. Everyone that knocks the doors are opened, the doors will be opened to you. The practice of persistent petition and not backing down, also known as the principle of continual coming, is huge in the spirit realm.
This is why you should never give up in your life. At one of our God Will Do It Again seasons, a lady got healed of high blood pressure. Her story is, she had been faithfully attending our meetings and because of her condition it was really difficult for her to participate as she would like. Then we shared a story of someone who attended one of the meetings and experienced open heavens. Guess what this lady did, she went before God with using that as fuel for her petition. Lord, how can this person that showed up once have such open heavens. Lord, you have to heal me. That is the kind of faith God cannot resist and God healed her.
God says we should ask of him but beyond that, God wants us to have a relationship with Him and not just seek for results alone. Some people just want to turn God into a vending machine; slot in prayer and promotion comes out. God is not a vending machine. Many just want results and without a relationship with God. You need to have a relationship with God and beyond that have fellowship with God. You can be content with what you have but God does not want us to be content with who we are. God wants us to push to be better people, push to be greater spiritually, push to be more generous people. This is why the focus of our asking is not to get more from God but to be more for God. Sadly, this is where the world misses it.
When you are more for God, you will discover that in His presence there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forever. But it is His presence we are after. D. L. Moody, in his devotional Prevailing Prayer said, “We are to ask with beggar’s humility, to seek with a servant’s carefulness, and to knock with the confidence of a friend.” Some wise person has come up with an acronym for ASK – ‘A’ for ask, ‘S’ for Seek, and ‘K’ means knock. So, when Jesus says, ask – seek- knock, He is saying ask!
Prayer: Father, I come to You with the confidence of a son and I ask that You take the glory of my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!
