Prayer is the place of admitting our need. Prayer is the place of adopting humility. Prayer is the place of claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the practice of God’s presence. John 10:4-5, & 27 “After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice… My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Acts 4:13 “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (NIV, emphasis added)
In other words, the only significant thing about Peter and John was that they had been with Jesus. These men were unschooled and ordinary, yet they were doing amazing things, extraordinary things. Read the rest of this entry
John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.” (emphasis added).
In today’s anchor scripture, we see Jesus boast in His Father’s love for Him and that is big. “The Father loves the Son…”, just like a boy on the playground says, ‘my daddy loves me’. God’s love for you is more important than your love for God. Read the rest of this entry
John.4:6-7 “Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.”
What are the things in your life that perhaps you are ashamed of? For the Samaritan woman, it was perhaps having five husbands. The Rabbis had declared three husbands to be the limit for women. Interestingly, men had no limit to how many wives they could marry. Read the rest of this entry
